The spirit of rally in the Pacific Northwest is grassroots, tenacious and filled with camaraderie. Our first supporting sponsor for 2012, Dirtfish Rally School, based outside of Seattle, WA is a hardworking bunch of rallyists, and a perfect fit for our Spirit of Rally sponsorship. In past years this prize has been given for a seed fund for a new engine, and for teetering on the edge of the biggest cliff on our stages. Dirtfish is eager to support this year’s teams by awarding a one day rally course to the Spirit of Rally winner.
This award is given at the organiser’s discretion, with suggestions from competitors and volunteers. Let us know where you see true ‘Spirit of Rally’ this weekend at the Big White Winter Rally!

With still two weeks to go before the rally, it already looks like the snowbanks will be even bigger than last year. High logging traffic areas are plowed, with some ice. Gem Lake start and Black Forest finish have significant snow accumulation and are barely passable in a 4wd pickup with good clearance. Thank you to volunteers and competitors for participating in the 2011 Big White Winter Rally. The 2012 event will be a two-pass recce winter stage rally. The schedule will be Saturday recce, Sunday rally. Service will be at Happy Valley and there will be no super special. The event will be part of the 2012 Western Canadian Rally Championship. Competitors are encouraged to stay for the awards party on Sunday night and skiing, snowboarding, tubing, skating or snowshoeing at the resort on Monday.
